I SAW

68m.jpgOn the weekend a friend brought around a movie for us to watch, SAW. I wasn’t expecting too much, but was willing to give it a go. I had heard mixed reports about it. I did want to see it when it was at the cinema – but it wasn’t there long enough for me to get organised and see it.
So, we watched. And it turns out to be quite awesome. I think it was really well written and produced. I am disappointed that the producers decided that for an Australian movie to succeed they needed American actors, but hey.
Anyway – the reason for the appearence here is – I think you should go and watch it. Remember – do as I say. :)
Seriously – I think it is definitely worth a watch!

Haircut

Ok, so I am getting my hair done at the moment by Lisa at Medusa Hair. She rocks! However, it takes so long and I have to ware this stupid cap thing, and it makes me look like more of a fool then I normally do. Anyway – thank goodness for the internet and iBurst!

Michael Jackson found innocent

Just moments ago the verdict in the three month running case was handed down. The “King of Pop” was found not guilty on all ten counts by a jury of his peers. As the verdict was announced the court room erupted with noise, many people visably pleased with the response.

Weekend Wrapup

Well, had a really quiet weekend, was most excellent. Got some more VoIP / Asterisk / Misterhouse stuff working – which is quite cool. Now I can call an extension and control the misterhouse stuff with that. Need to spend some time building some menues now.

Anyway, mostly quiet – got let down in a big way by a friend, but I suppose they do that every so often don’t they. I am indeed slowly learning that I just have to no open up so much to people.

Anyway – four day week this week – so it can’t be that bad!

…can it?

Production Work

For those of you who know me via the theatrical production industry, I would just like to recommend casting your eyes over this document. It is called the Stage Managers Handbook, or, Stage Managers do make Coffee.

As an all encompasing guide to the managment of a production, it is an excellent text. Everybody that I have told to have a look as said that they have taken something away from it. So – I just thought I would put it on here.

Asterisk

I have spoken about this before – but I just think it is so amazingly cool. I am running VoIP at home completely now, using a provider for my inbound and oubound terminations via IAX. That is old news, but what I am so freakin’ amazed about is a product called AMPAsterisk Managment Portal.

This thing is just so cool! There are still a few bugs, and it took about a day to work all the config errors out and manually fix them, but now – I have the coolest phone system around.

I will put some of my config changes that I needed to do up later, but I am tired now – so going to crash. I also wanna talk about the xAP stuff I have running between Asterisk and MisterHouse – that is also way cool! (I call a number on my phone and lights turn on and off and all that crap).

MSN Virus

Ok, so – I am getting a little bugged by all the people with this MSN virus who have not bothered to get rid of it. There is a REALLY easy utility to remove it – and it is here www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bropia.removal.tool.html

Hackers get nicked by US Secret Service

This story by Business Week magazine details how over 25 hackers have been caught by US secret service agents.

There is not a great deal of detail – as it appears to be written more for the non-IT literate amongst us – but still quite interesting.

SMS, TXT, MMS, whatever….

SMS.jpgThis has confused me for quite some time, why is it that we are still paying so much for simple communications like SMS and MMS type messages…

Why is it that the average sms price in Australia is $0.25, yet you can use an off shore provider and send for as little as $0.07 just for creating an account. If you are in the country and send a lot of SMS spam like the bigger players – you send for as little as $0.02 per message.

The reason as far as I have been made aware by a particular telco is that if one provider all of a sudden lowered their prices – there would be an investigation into why things were not always that price – and none of the providers want that. So – essentially – they have all agreet to keep their pricing around the same price point.
