Now look don’t get me wrong, I am not the healthiest of people around. Heck, I just had a greasy pile of bacon and eggs for breakfast. But, it is without prejudice that I dislike bike riders – I don’t dislike them because they are healthy – I dislike them because they are dangerous.
In Queensland, there is no requirement to be licensed to ride a bike, there is no vehicle registration and testing, there is nothing. If you have a helmet – you can ride your bike in traffic. Of course, you can get a fine for breaking traffic rules etc – but how often have you been on the road and seen a bike rider do something they shouldn’t? I am not talking about little things, big things, dangerous things that put their and other peoples lives at risk.
There needs to be licensing involved for bike riders, and some sort of identification of bikes.
Bike riders cry foul whenever something happens to them, but expect to be able to pick and choose what road rules they will observe. Don’t dare use your horn when a bike rider pulls out in front of you, they have every right to enter the road with complete disregard for other drivers.
There are countless reasons bike riders and the vehicles should be licensed and regulated, this has been some of them.
